CITY OF AZUSA
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
OF THE AZUSA UTILITY BOARD
MONDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2022– 6:30 P.M.

The Azusa Utility Board of the City of Azusa met in regular session, at the above date and time, in the Azusa Light &
Water located at 729 N. Azusa Avenue, Azusa, California.
Vice Chair person Dennis Beckwith called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
ROLL CALL: Roll call was taken by Secretary Cornejo.
PRESENT: BOARD MEMBERS: AVILA Jr., GONZALES, BECKWITH
ABSENT: BOARD MEMBERS: MENDEZ, ALVAREZ
Pledge to the flag was led by City Attorney Jeff Ferre.

B. GENERAL MANAGER COMMENTS
General Manager Singh provided an update on the Shred-A-Thon held on September 17, 2022.

E. CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Minutes of the Utility Board Meeting on September 26, 2022 was approved.
2. Approve the Request for Proposal for a System Relay Coordination Study and Authorize the Advertisement and
Solicitation Bids was approved.
Board Member Gonzales moved, seconded by Board Member Avila , to approve the Consent Calendar: Unanimously
passed 3-0.

F. STAFF REPORTS/COMMUNICATIONS
None
G. VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS
1. Power Supply Update
Assistant General Manager Power Resources Richard Torres reported through the end of September approximately 31%
of renewable energy has been acquired. Mr. Torres said that September 2022 was the highest consumption breaking 2015
high.
Mr. Torres provided an update on The Mesa Wind Project, included the target operation date to be July 2023.
Azusa Light & Water staff answered Board Member questions.
2. Water Supply Update
General Manager Tikan Singh reported October 2022 had .46 inches of rain. SGVMWD pipeline will deliver 5% SWP
Allocation, 850 AF to San Gabriel Canyon spreading grounds. Local ground water elevation was at 176.9 feet as of
October 14, 2022; it was at 178.7 feet as of September 9, 2022 and 185.7 feet as of June 17, 2022.
Azusa Light & Water staff answered Board Member questions.
