HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - February 19, 1985 - CCCITY OF AZUSA MINUTES JOINT CITY COUNCIL AND REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 19, 1985 - 6:00 P.M. The City Council and the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Azusa ' met in adjourned regular session at the above date and time in the City Hall Conference Room. Mayor Pro-tem/Vice Chairman Cook called the meeting to order. ROLL CALL 'i PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS/DIRECTORS: CRUZ, COOK, CAMARENA ABSENT : COUNCILMEMBERS/DIRECTORS: LATTA, MOSES Moved by Councilman/Director Camarena, seconded by Mayor Pro -tem/ Vice Chairman Cook and unanimously carried by roll call* to excuse Mayor/Chairman Moses from the meeting. Agenda Item C-1, agreement between the Agency and the School District was deferred to Executive Session. S Call to order Roll Call Moses & Latta Moses excused Agenda Item C-1 defrd to Exec Ses Moved by Director Camarena, seconded by Vice Chairman Cook and Appv agmts w/ carried by roll call* to approve real property appraisals for the Boznanski & Urban Pacific Development Project in two phases: Phase I at a cost Metropolitan for of $2,000 with Boznanski & Company and Phase II, at a cost of $5,000 Urban Pac.Dev. with Metropolitan Appraisal Company. Director Cruz abstaining. Moved by Councilman Camarena, seconded by Mayor Pro -tem Cook and unanimously caried by roll call* to accept the resignation of Line Mechanic, Tom Cordero, effective February 20, 1985. Moved by Director Cruz, seconded by Vice Chairman Cook and unani- mously carried by roll call* that the firm of Sanchez and Associates be retained for complete park design of City Park; further waiving bidding procedures pursuant to the Municipal Code for said design. MAYOR/CHAIRMAN MOSES ENTERED THE MEETING AT 6:23 P.M., AND PRESIDED AT THE MEETING FROM THAT POINT ON. Lengthy discussion was held regarding Dukow Building and type of facade for said building, which by consensus of the Agency was to be in a Spanish motif. The Council did not wish to discuss the classification/compensation study at this time, but deferred to 7:30 meeting. General Counsel requested a CLOSED SESSION with the Redevelopment Agency pursuant to Government Code Section 54957.9, for the purpose of receiving advice of the General Counsel on matters of potential litigation within the Attorney/Client privilege, the disclosure of which would be adverse to the Agency; further, pursuant to Government Code Section 54957.9(b), significant exposure to litigation against the Agency exists with respect to the Azusa Unified School District and that pursuant to Government Code Section 54957.9, he had prepared a confidential letter to the Board of Directors advising of the grounds and authority for the closed session. Additionally, he also requested a CLOSED SESSION with the Agency pursuant to Government Code Section 54957 for the purpose of advising the Agency's property negotiator, Mr. Wood, concerning the purchase, sale, exchange or lease of certain real property, the disclosure of such information would be adverse to the interest of the Agency if disclosed in public. The property concerned is located West of San Gabriel Avenue, North of Foothill Boulevard in the City of Azusa, and the parties involved s .r. Resign.T.Cordero Park design Sanchez &Assoc. At this time the Mayor apprised the members of the Council and the Meet the Mayor audience that he had been interviewed for Channel 9's Meet the Mayor program, Tom Frandsen, and that it was a half-hour segment showing MARCH 12, 1985 6:00-6:30 A.M. and also on MARCH 16, 1985, FROM 6:30-7:00 A.M.
