MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 19, 1985 - 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session
at the above time and date in the Civic Auditorium.
foyor Moses called the meeting to order and led in the salute
to the Flag.
Invocation was given by Geoff Craig, Finance Director of the
City of Azusa.

Councilman Cruz presented a Proclamation to Thomas Wyman Proc. Thomas
Klett for his reporting prowess of local note in the Azusa Wyman Klett
Herald.
Mrs. Vera Mendoza of the Chamber of Comerce introduced Tvtro. Contest
contestants of the Miss Azusa Pageant for 1985 to Council @nts, Miss

CONSENT CALENDAR
The CONSENT CALENDAR consisting of Items 1 through 16 was Consent Cal.
approved by motion of Councilman Camarena, seconded by appvd.
Councilman Cook and carried by roll call vote. Council-
man Cruz abstained from Item F-12. Item F-13 was approved
as amended.
1. Minutes of the adjourned regular meetings of February 4th, Min. appvd.
February 6th and February 11th and the regular meeting of
February 4, 1985 were approved as written.
,2. ABC Notice, person to person transfer, on sale beer and
wine public premises, located at 658-60 S. Azusa Ave.,
Joanna's was received and filed.

Bid opening for the purchase of one I ton truck for the
Light and Water Department. Four bids were received and
opened in the City Clerk's Office on February 12, 1985.
Contract was awarded to Robert H. Loud Ford, lowest bidder,
in the amount of $9,208.73, which includes trade-in of a
1970 Ford pickup truck,

The Mayor and the City Clerk were authorized to execute Ltr re: Parcel
the letter advising that the development of property in Map 16332, Cit:

6. Avery Label Waterline Agreement was approved and the Mayor Agmt. Avery

10. Appointment of Ernest Conde to the position of Reserve Appt. E. Conde
Police Officer, was approved, effective February 20, 1985. Res. Pol. Off.
' . Formal bidding procedures were waived, pursuant to the Purchase six
Municipal Code for the purchase of six new Chevrolet police vehicle:
police vehicles, from Maurice J. Sopp and Sons. Authoriza-
tion to purchase vehicles was approved.
12. Bid opening for Project No. 671, 8" water line along San Bid Open.
Gabriel Ave., between 3rd, 5th and Dalton. Ten bids were Project#671
received and opened in the City Clerk's Office on February Williams
12, 1985. The contract was awarded to Williams Supply Co., Supply Co.
low bidder, in the amount of $134,269.00. The_.City_ Clerk
was directed to return unsuccessful bidders' guarantees.
The Mayor and the City Clerk were authorized to execute
the contract.
13. Formal bidding procedures were waived, pursuant to the Electric rate
Municipal Code for evaluation of electric rate for Evaluation
industrial customers. Evaluation study was approved Study/Indust.
to be performed by R.W. Beck and Associates for an Cust. R.W.
amount not to exceed $17,500.00. Beck & Assoc.

The Mayor declared the Hearing open. The City Clerk read the
affidavit of proof of publication of notice of said hearing
published in the Azusa Herald on February 6, 1985.
Testimony was solicited but none received.

PUBLIC HEARING - Notice to destroy weeds, remove brush,
bish, refuse, and dirt on certain streets in the City
Azusa.

hearing published in the Azusa Herald on February 13, 1985.
Testimony was received and given. A representative of the
County of Los Angeles, Department of Agricultural Commissioner
and Weights and Measures was present regarding Weed Abatement.

Said Public Hearing was to receive protests from property
owners regarding abatement. The Agricultural Commissioner
will now proceed with said abatement.
PUBLIC NUISANCE APPEAL HEARING - Appellant: Jerry D. Young,
Case No. 85-2, for property declared a nuisance at 423 S.

Moved by Councilman Camarena, seconded by Councilman Cook
and unanimously carried by roll call to receive additional
material and pictures from Code Enforcement Officer regarding

results of a Teen Survey taken in July 1984, to all Council-

use as a Teen Center.
