JOINT CITY COUNCIL AND REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
MINUTES
AUGUST 5, 1985 - 6:00 P.M.
The City Council and the Redevelopment Agency of the
City of Azusa met in early session at the above date
and time in the Civic Auditorium.
Mayor/Chairman Moses called the meeting to order.

Craig, Assistant to the City Administrator Fuentes,
Assistant Planner. Watrous, Deputy City Clerk/Deputy
Secretary Lara.

Moved by Councilman/Director Cook, seconded by Latta excused
Councilman/Director Cruz and carried by roll call* frm mtg
to excuse Councilman/Director Latta from the meeting.
Councilman/Director Camarena dissenting.
Moved by Councilman Camarena, seconded by Councilman traffic probs
Cook and unanimously carried by roll call* to receive Duarte/Encanto
and file communication regarding truck traffic problems pkwy (rec&file)
at Duarte/Encanto Parkway.
Agenda Item C-2, request to purchase certain properties, Item C-2 dfrd to
was deferred to Closed Session. Closed Session
Moved by Councilman Cook, seconded by Councilman Camarena
Design Review
and
unanimously carried by roll call* to direct staff

to
proceed with necessary public hearings to strengthen
the
design review and approval process within the City.
Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Cook and
R. Clark Cont.
unanimously carried by roll call* to award the contract
for floor& wall
for
modification of Main City Hall, Project No. 685,
coverings Proj.
for
floor coverings, wall coverings, paint, drapes
685, other items
and
mini -blinds to Robert Clark Contractor, in the
to be re -bid, &
amount of $40,807.00; furnishings are to be re -bid
sub-contrctd
and
cabinets and miscellaneous items to be sub -contracted
by
the City. Three bids were received and opened in
the
City Clerk's Office on July 23, 1985, and quotes
are
on file in that office.
Moved by Councilman Camarena, seconded by Councilman Pol.Off.appts
Cook and unanimously carried by roll call* to approve Badoni,Gonzalez
promotional appointments of Police Officer Trainees Fleming
to Police Officers, effective August 4, 1985, for Bruce
Badoni, Samuel Gonzalez and Samuel Fleming.
Moved by Councilman Cruz, seconded by Councilman Cook
to dissolve the Utilities Commission. Motion failed
by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: CRUZ, COOK
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: CAMARENA, MOSES
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: LATTA

Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Camarena Staff rpt on
and carried 'by roll call* to have staff research and ' `inc. duties of
report on methods of increasing the Utilities Util.Comm.
Commission's duties for greater productivity; further
that if staff has no agenda items for a specific meeting
that the Commission should take it upon themselves
to cancel said meeting. Councilman Cruz dissenting.
Moved by Councilman Cook, seconded by Councilman Cruz

GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54957 AND MAKING FINDINGS
PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 54956.9(a) AND
(c).

Councilman/Director Cruz to waive further reading and
adopt Resolution passed and adopted by the following
vote of the Council/Agency:
