The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned regular session at the above date and time in the Civic Auditorium. Mayor Moses called the meeting to order and led in the salute to the Flag. ROLL CALL PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, COOK, CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES ABSENT : COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ALSO PRESENT City Attorney Thorson, Interim City Administrator Fuentes, Director of Community Development Bruckner, Director of Finance Craig, Redevelopment Project Analysts Steel and Katchen, Deputy City Clerk Lara. The CONSENT CALENDAR consisting of Items 1 through 4 was approved by motion of Councilman Cook, seconded by Councilman Latta and unanimously carried by roll call vote with the exception of Item D-1, which was approved as amended and Item D-2 which was considered under the SPECIAL CALL portion of the Agenda. At its last meeting the City Council directed staff to Res. #8250 prepare a report and the appropriate resolution to accepting begin the transition to a new City Administrator. A resigntion of resolution was submitted for Council's consideration L. Wood and and adoption in order to implement the above. Said setting resolution was entitled: final comp. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ACCEPTING THE RESIGNATION OF CITY ADMINISTRATOR LLOYD WOOD AND SETTING THE FINAL COMPENSATION THEREOF. 2. SPECIAL CALL ITEM Special Call 3. Finance has closed the books for fiscal year 1985-86 All budgets and the City's auditing firm is about to complete its equal to au - work on the related financial statements. Now is the dited reve- time to set all budgets equal to the audited revenues nues and expenditures. This completes the audit of the ' City's Books. Therefore, in order to save time and to expedite the issuance of the financial statements, all budgets were set equal to the audited revenues and expenditures and any underruns, differences, surplus or overages were closed to the appropriate fund balance. 4. Step increase recommendation was approved for Joan Step Inc. Francone, Personnel Assistant, to Step 3, effective J. Francone March 24, 1987. SPECIAL CALL ITEMS Special Call At its last meeting Council directed staff to prepare the Res. #8251 necessary documents that will provide for the Assistant apptng. J. City Administrator to serve as Interim City Administrator Fuentes as while the City conducts a recruitment process for the latter Interim Cty position. A resolution was presented for Council Admin. consideration and adoption. The Mayor objected to the selection of the Assistant City Administrator and felt that �ther qualified people were available from staff members. ouncilman Cook then offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPOINTING JULIO J. FUENTES AS INTERIM CITY ADMINISTRATOR AND SETTING THE COMPENSATION THEREOF. Moved by Councilman Cook, seconded by Councilman Latta to waive further reading and adopt. Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilwoman Avila and Reappont unanimously carried by roll call to reappoint Ivan Berndt I. Berndt to the Library Commission. Mayor Moses then offered a resolution entitled: Res. #8253 reapptng I. A RSOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA Berndt to REAPPOINTING IVAN BERNDT TO THE LIBRARY COMMISSION. Interviews The Council then interviewed applicant James G. Pride and Pks & Rec incumbent, David Santellan. Comm Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilwoman Avila and Reappt D. unanimously carried by roll call to reappoint David Santellan Santellan to the Parks and Recreation Commission. 'Councilman Latta then offered a resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA Res. #8255 REAPPOINTING DAVID SANTELLAN TO THE PARKS AND RECREATION reappntg D. COMMISSION. Santellan to Pks & Rec. Comm Moved by Councilman Latta, seconded by Mayor Moses to waive further reading and adopt. Resolution passed and adopted by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, COOK, CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE Two openings exist on the Planning Commission. The Council Interviews interviewed applicants Michael B. Holliday, Robert A. for Ping Montano and incumbents Michael G. Castaneda and Helen G. Comm Chapman. Mr. Michael Norman did not appear to be interviewed and Mr. James G. Pride withdrew his application. Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilwoman Avila and Reappt M. carried by roll call to reappoint Michael G. Castaneda to Castaneda the Planning Commission. Councilman Latta dissenting. 'Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilwoman Avila to Reappt H. reappoint Helen G. Chapman to the Planning Commission. Moved by Councilman Cook, seconded by Councilman Cruz to waive further reading and adopt. Resolution passed and adopted by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, COOK, CRUZ, LATTA, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE Moved by Councilman Cook, seconded by Councilwoman Avila and unanimously carried by roll call to adjourn.
