MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 7, 1989 - 6:30 P.M.
I -The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned
regular session at the above date and time in the Azusa
Library Auditorium.
Mayor Moses called the meeting to order.
ROLL CALL
PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, STEMRICH, LATTA, MOSES
ABSENT : COUNCILMEMBERS: NARANJO
Call to order
Roll Call
Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Stemrich and Naranjo
unanimously carried by roll call* to excuse Councilman excused
Naranjo from the meeting
ALSO PRESENT Also Present
City Administrator Fuentes, Acting Deputy City Clerk
Toscano.
The purpose of the meeting was to interview applicants for Interviews
Library and Cultural and Historical Landmark Commissions. Comms.
One position was available in the Library Commission.
Mr. John Rodriguez, the sole applicant, was interviewed.
Mayor Moses offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA Res.# 8674
REAPPOINTING JOHN RODRIGUEZ TO THE LIBRARY COMMISSION. Appt.
J. Rodriguez
Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilwoman Avila to Lib. Comm.
waive further reading and adopt. Resolution passed and
adopted by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, LATTA, MOSES
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NARANJO
ABSTAIN: COUNCILMEMBERS: STEMRICH
Three positions were available in the Cultural and
Historical Landmark Commission. The following were
interviewed:
Ellen Dyer, Beverly J. Piper and Victoria Ward.
Councilman Naranjo entered the meeting at 6:58 P.M. Naranjo entrd

Moved by Councilman Stemrich, seconded by Councilwoman Avila Intry clsd
and unanimously carried by roll call to close the
interviews.
At the adjourned regular meeting of June 26, 1989, the
following were also interviewed for the Cultural and
Historical Landmark Commission:
Dixon A. James, Murray Hirota, Bill Molina, Jr. Patricia G.
Ripley and Edith Russek.

Mayor Moses offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
APPOINTING MURRAY HIROTA TO THE CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL
LANDMARK COMMISSION.
Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Stemrich to
waive further reading and adopt. Resolution passed and
adopted by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, STEMRICH, NARANJO, LATTA,
MOSES
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
Mayor Moses offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
REAPPOINTING BILL MOLINA, JR. TO THE CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL
LANDMARK COMMISSION.
Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Stemrich to
waive further reading and adopt. Resolution passed and
adopted by the following vote of the Council:

MOSES
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
Mayor Moses offered a Resolution entitled:

REAPPOINTING EDITH RUSSEK TO THE CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL
LANDMARK COMMISSION.
Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Stemrich to
waive further reading and adopt. Resolution passed and
adopted by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: AVILA, STEMRICH, NARANJO, LATTA,
MOSES
NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
Moved by Mayor Moses, seconded by Councilman Stemrich and
unanimously carried by roll call to adjourn.
