HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - September 12, 1994 - CCCITY OF AZUSA MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING SEPTEMBER 12, 1994 - 6:00 P.M. The City Council of the City of Azusa and the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Azusa met in adjourned regular session at the above date and time in the Library Auditorium. Councilmember Madrid called the meeting to order. PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: ABSENT COUNCILMEMBERS: HARDISON, MADRID, BEEBE NARANJO, ALEXANDER City Administrator/Executive Director Garcia, and Superintendent of Public Works Pedroza. Call to Order Roll Call Also Present CONTINUED PUBLIC HEARING - on Schedule of Fees and Charges for various Cont Pub Hrg City Services. City sys fees Moved by Councilmember/Director Hardison, seconded by Councilmember/Director Cont to 10/3/94 Beebe and unanimously* carried by roll call to continue Public Hearing to the meeting of October 3, 1994. Superintendent of Public Works addressed Council advising that Browning-Ferris Industries (B.F.I.) has approached the Public Works Department requesting that the City provide additional street sweeping services on City owned roadways in order to insure the level of acceptance preferred by mandates and the public. He further explained that the service can be accommodated with daily operation, but that there is a need to lease a new sweeper. He advised that B.F.I. agreed to a five year contract which would enable the City to lease a new sweeper on a five year term with an option to purchase after thattime, and also answered question posed by Councilmembers/Directors. Councilmember/Director Madrid voiced her opposition to the project. After additional question and answer session regarding the project, it was moved by Councilmember/Director Beebe, seconded by Councilmember/Director Hardison and carried by roll call to approve the agreement, authorize its execution, waive formal bidding procedures pursuant to the Municipal Code and allow for the lease of a street sweeper based on earliest delivery. Councilmember/Director Madrid dissenting. It was consensus of Council/Directors to adjourn. TIME OF ADJOURNMENT: 6:20 P.M.
