HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - October 27, 1913 - CC94 Azusa California, Oct 27th,1913. The Board of Trustees of the city of Azusa met in regular session at 7;15 P.M. Present at roll, call; Collins, Barnes, Clark, Case and Roach. The minutes of Oct 20th and Oct 21st ,1913, were read and approved, Miss M,C.Casey asked for permission to remove some trees in front of her place on Dalton Avenue. Mowed by Barnes, seconded by Clark that the permit he grahted. Motion carried, Frank Kaufman was before the Board asking for informa- tion regarding the improvement of Drange Avenue, stating that the City was giving them more than they had asked for, that they wanted the sidewalk but nbt the street clayed. The matter was referred to the Public, works Committee to consult with the property owners of Orange Avenue Aregarding the claying of that street. Moved by Case, seconded by Barnes that the new speed {'rte Ordinance'be taken up for the first reading. O Mobidn carried, The Ordinance was read by the Clerk. Moved by Case, seconded by Clark that the Ordinance be referred to the Ordinance and Judiciary Committee to report next meeting. 'Motion carried., Moved by Case. seconded by Collins, that Chas. Bender be summond before the Board on November 10th,1913, to show cause why his license should not be revoked. Motion carried. Moved by Collins, seconded by Case that the Ordinance being "AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF TILE CITY OF AZUSA, RATIFYING AND AFFIRMING THE ACTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN ADOPTING AN ORDINANCE KNO11i AS ORDINANCE NUMBER 99, BEING All ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE GRADE OF TENTH STREET �. FROM THE FIRST LINE OF OF PASADENA AVENUE TO THE EAST LINE OF VERNON AVENUE, AND THE GRADE OF A PORTION OF SAN7.GABRIEZ AVENUE FROM THE NORTH LINE OF CENTRE STREET TO THE SOUTH LI14F. I i OF ELEVENTH STPWAT", BE taken up for the first reading. Motion carried. The Ordinance was read by the Clerk. Moved by Barnes, seconded by Clark that the Ordinance be declared read for the first time and taken up for the second reading. Motion carried. The Ordinance was read by the Clerk. Moved by Clark, seconded by Collins, that the Ordinance be declared read for the second time and laid over until neat meeting. Motion carried. The matter of H.B.Hawks refund of last years taxes was brought before the Bitard. Moved by Case, seconded by Clark that the matter be referred to the Ordinance and Finance Committees to report next meeting. Motion carried. The bids on Center Stree-t were ppeddd. L.H.Jones being the only bidder. lie bidding 29jf for curb, and ll)e for sidewalk. Trustee Casd offered a Resolution and moved its adoption being " A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF AZUSA PROVIDING FOR THE TRANSFER OF CERTAIN FUNDS." The Resolution was read by the Clerk. The Resolution was seconded by Barnes. Roll call; Ayes. Collins, Barnes, Clary, Case andRoach. Noes; None. 95 Absent; hone. Moved by Barnes, seconded by Collins, that the bid on Center Street be referred to the City Attorney and City Engineer to report next meeting. Motion carried. In settling the water rate for October,1913 ,it was moved by Case; seconded by Collins that all bills over $1.00 be reduced 25% on the Juno reading, no bills to be reduced to less than $1.00 Motion carried. Marshal Granville asked for extra help for the night of Halloween . Moved by Barnes, seconded by Case that the City Marshal j employ an extra man for that night. Motion carried. The City Marshal also stated that he would like to have the appointment of E.R.Gauldin ratified by the Board. Moved by Barnes, seconded by Case that the appointment of E.R.Gauldin be approved by the Board. Motion carried. Moved by Case, seconded by Collins that the following bills be allowed and warrants srawn for the same; Roll call; Ayee;; Collins, Barnes, Clark, Case andRoach. Noes: None. Absent; None. WATER FUND. NO 871, Azusa Agricultural 'Nater Co, water assessment, $160.00 of 19'3 96 Superintendent Thompson stated that the valve on the corner of Azusa Avenue and.Center Street was leaking very I badly and if not fixed would apoil the road.
