HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - June 7, 1999 - CCCITY OF AZUSA MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING MONDAY, JUNE 7,1999 - 6:30 P.M. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in adjourned regular session at the above date and time in the Civic Auditorium. Mayor Madrid called the meeting to order. Call to Order ROLL CALL Roll Call PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: HARDISON, STANFORD, ROCHA, BEEBE, MADRID ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ALSO PRESENT: Also Present City Manager Cole, Director of Utilities Hsu, Community Development Director Bruckner, Chief of Police Broderick, Assistant City Manager Craig, Acting Finance Director Brisco, Deputy City Clerk Toscano. Budget Workshop - Potential Revenue Resources Potential Rev Chief of Police Broderick addressed Council presenting several potential revenue sources Chief of Police such as: Jail Service, which would provide jail service to surrounding cities at a cost of $80 comments per day, Alarm monitoring, he detailed, Booking fees, more research would be needed, Paramedic fee, a subscription which would be $12 per month. Assistant City Manager detailed the proposed purchase of an entire overlay telephone area code, which needs additional research. Chief explained the Law Enforcement Contracting concept and Traffic Ticket school. Councilmember Beebe questioned the towing contracts and asked to explore the feasibility of having an exclusive tow operator with an increased amount. Utilities Director Hsu presented an Energy Efficiency Program, which would use local utility Utilities Dir funds to perform an energy audit on City buildings and make corrections (especially water.) comments He detailed Wiring Maintenance - a franchise with SCE to maintain electric wiring inside residences, Appliance Repair - a franchise with SC Gas Co. to repair electric appliances inside residences, Cable System - to market City's share of Dark Fiber, Bottled Water feasibility and Ice.
