The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above date and time in the Azusa Auditorium located
at 213 E. Foothill Boulevard; Azusa, CA 91702.
Mayor Rocha called the meeting to order.
Pledge to the Flag was led by City of Glendora Mayor Gene Murabito.

Mr, Eddie Alvarez addressed Council regarding the Let's Talk event at the Edgewood Center stating that E. Alvarez
other residents have shown interest, and suggested additional events at different locations throughout the Comments
city; he encouraged all to vote Tuesday March 5.
Mr. Jorge Rosales addressed Council regarding the pedestrian bridges project, stating that this is a much J. Rosales

Mr. Bart Luce addressed Council regarding the condominium properties at Citrus Crossing, stating that B. Luce
he contacted staff to obtain information on the contractor in order to get a status on the project. Comments
Mr. Jeffrey Cornejo addressed the meeting inviting all to his Campaign Mixer on February 22. J. Cornejo

Mr. Jordan Williams addressed Council regarding the water crisis stating that a group of Azusa Pacific J. Williams
University students is raising funds for the clean water Ethiopia project, and requested support to do Clean Water
community outreach through the available media resources to raise awareness and ask for financial
support; for more information visit www.rightforwater.com.
Mr. Art Morales addressed the meeting thanking City Manager Makshanoff and staff for their services, A. Morales
announced Mr. Mike Lee's continued recovery asking for prayers for him, and thanked Councilmember Comments
Hanks for his services to the community.
Community Development Director Christiansen addressed Mr. Luce's concerns stating that a meeting has K. Christiansen
been scheduled for February 28, with the people who are interested in moving the Citrus Project forward. Comments

on all counts regarding the Vulcan Case, a law suit by the City of Duarte; staff will review the ruling to Comments

Mayor Pro -tem Carrillo addressed the meeting congratulating Chick.fil.A for their grand opening; ribbon A. Carrillo
cutting will be Thursday, February 21, at 9:00 a.m. Comments
Councilmember Gonzales addressed the meeting thanking all who participated at the Casino Night fund R. Gonzales
raiser on February 15, and thanked Councilmember Macias for co -sponsoring the event; checks from the Comments
proceeds will be presented to both Little Leagues and the Junior All American, at the next meeting.
Councilmember Hanks addressed the meeting thanking city staff for their services; he was happy to know K. Hanks
'the Court's decision regarding Vulcan, and congratulated Chick.fil.A. Comments
Councilmember Macias addressed the meeting requesting the auditorium fire extinguishers be replaced; U. Macias
he asked that staff look into the cost of installing sidewalks at the 1200 and 1300 blocks N. Azusa Ave.; Comments
congratulated Chick.fil.A for their grand opening; welcomed the Cities and Agencies that came to
recognize Councilmenber Hanks; and wished a Happy Birthday to his friend Analia.
Mayor Rocha addressed the meeting announcing Friends of the Library Book Sale, Saturday, February J. Rocha
23, at 10:00 a.m., and Azusa Cares, Thursday March 7, 3-5 p.m. by Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez on the Comments
Affordable Care Act; he congratulated Chick.fil.A for their grand opening, and the Family Dollar Store
ribbon cutting ceremony next Saturday, February 23, at 8:00 a.m.; requested the flags at the Woman's
Club be replaced, and asked to keep service men and women in prayers.

Director of Economic and Community Development Christiansen addressed the hearing stating that this
is to allow property owners to object to the brush and clearance notices; testimony should be received, K. Christiansen
adoption of the order to abate should be considered and property owners objecting to the abatement will Comments
be referred to the Los Angeles County Fire Department brush clearance office for consideration.

Mr. Art Morales addressed the hearing to inquire if any of the properties being affected by the abatement A. Morales

Moved by Councilmember Gonzales seconded by Mayor Pro -tem Carrillo and unanimously carried to Hrg. Closed

approve the motion and abatement order directing abatement of the nuisance by removing all weeds and Abatement
rubbish from the affected improved parcels.
The CONSENT CALENDAR consisting of Items D-1 through D-4, was approved by motion of Consent Cal
Councilmember Gonzales, seconded by Councilmember Hanks, and unanimously carried.

SPECIAL CALL ITEMS
RIGHT OF ENTRY AGREEMENT WITH COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF
COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES FOR DEMOLITION OF SITE STRUCTURES — ATLANTIS
GARDENS.
Staff responded to Councilmember Macias concerns stating that the City will not incur any expenses on
the demolition of the structures as the properties belong to the State of California; the responsibility of
the housing assets was transferred to the Los Angeles County; however, the transfer has not been
completed; this is an agreement to allow the County entry to the property in order to do the work; there
have been many illegal break ins into the vacant structures to which Code Enforcement has been working
to prevent, this has created the need to demolish them immediately.
Moved by Councilmember Macias seconded by Councilmember Hanks, and unanimously carried to
Approve a Right of Entry Agreement with the Community Development Commission of County of Los
Angeles for Demolition of Site Structures at Atlantis Gardens, and authorization was give to the City
Manager to execute same.

CEREMONIAL
A ceremony was held to recognize Councilmember Keith Hanks for the years of service to the
Community. Presentations were made by the Cities of Glendora, Alhambra, Baldwin Park, South
Pasadena, EI Monte, Duarte, Monrovia and Pasadena; The San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments,
Southern California Association of Governments, Metro Gold Line, Azusa Chamber of Commerce, 48°i
District Assemblymen Roger Hernandez. Each Councilmember thanked him and together they presented
a proclamation and a plaque on behalf of the City of Azusa.
