The City Council of the City of Azusa met in special session at the above date and time in the Azusa Auditorium located at 213 E. Foothill Boulevard, Azusa, CA 91702. Mayor Rocha called the meeting to order. Call to Order Pledge to the Flag was led by Vietnam Veteran Mr. Ray Chavira. Flag Salute The National Anthem was led by Ms. Ana Aguilar. Nat] Anthem Invocation was given by Pastor Woody Calvary of Praise Chapel of Azusa. Invocation Cheer Leaders representing Azusa Schools - Nelly Castro Lee School, Ilene Del Real Dalton Bob Cats Cheer Leaders and Abby Hernandez Hodge Cougars - performed a Cheer for Azusa. ROLL CALL PRESENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: GONZALES, CARRILLO, MACIAS, HANKS, ROCHA ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ALSO PRESENT City Attorney Martinez, City Manager Makshanoff, Director of Public Works/Assistant City Manager Haes, Police Chief Gonzalez, Finance Director Paragas, Economic and Community Development Director Christiansen, Utilities Director Morrow, Human Resources Director Neiuber, Information Services/Library Director Graf, Community Development Assistant Director McNamara, Recreation Superintendent Gonzales, Recreation Supervisor Gonzales, Information Officer Quiroz, Executive Assistant to the City Manager/City Council Cravens, Administrative Technician to Police Chief Ceccia, Office Specialist Wilson, City Clerk Mendoza, Assistant City Clerk Hernandez. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION Roll Call Also Present Public Part Mr. Dan Simpson addressed the meeting congratulating newly elected officials, wished well to outgoing D. Simpson officials, and offered prayers. Comments Councilmember Hanks presented a plaque to outgoing City Treasurer Marcene Hamilton, recognizing her Plaque M. for 8 years of dedicated service to the City. Hamilton A standing ovation was given to recognize all veterans, past and present, that have served our country. Recognize Veterans RESOLUTION DECLARING ELECTION RESULTS Resolution Declaring Concilmember Hanks offered a resolution entitled: Election Results A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON MARCH 5, 2013, DECLARING THE RESULTS AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW. Moved by Councilmember Hanks, seconded by Councilmember Macias, and unanimously carried to waive further reading and adopt Resolution No. 13-C13, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: GONZALES, CARRILLO. MACIAS, HANKS, ROCHA NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE OATHS OF OFFICE Oaths of Office City Clerk Vera Mendoza administered the Oath of Office to newly elected City Clerk Jeffrey Lawrence Oath to City Comejo Jr. Clerk Jeffrey City Clerk Jeffrey Lawrance Cornejo Jr. addressed the audience thanking family, friends and residents for Comejo their support. Mrs. Nancy Vasquez administered the Oath of Office to newly elected City Treasurer Arthur M. Oath to City Vasquez. Treas Arthur City Treasurer Arthur M. Vasquez addressed the audience thanking his family, friends and residents for Vasquez their support. Ms. Martha Alvarez administered the Oath of Office to newly elected Councilmember Edward J. Alvarez Mr. Louie Gonzales administered the Oath of Office to newly re-elected Councilmember Robert Oath to Gonzales. Council Robert Councilmember Robert Gonzales addressed the audience thanking his family, friends and residents for Gonzales their support. Mr. Roderick S. Rocha administered the Oath of Office to newly re-elected Mayor Joseph R. Rocha. Oath to Mayor Mayor Rocha addressed the audience thanking his family, friends and residents for their support. Joseph Rocha Outgoing Elected Officials, Councilmember Keith Hanks and City Clerk Vera Mendoza, stepped down New Officials from the dais, and newly Elected Officials, Councilmember Edward J. Alvarez and City Clerk Jeffrey Join Mtg Lawrence Cornejo Jr., stepped up to the dais for the remainder of the meeting. SELECTION OF MAYOR PRO -TEM Moved by Mayor Pro -tem Carrillo, seconded by Councilmember Gonzales and carried to select Councilmember Macias as Mayor Pro -tem for the year March 2013 to April 2014, councilmember Macias abstained.
